WHO ARE SOFT LANDING?

Soft landing is a national social enterprise across Australia.

Through a mattress recycling process, materials from waste mattresses such as foam, timber and metal, are diverted from landfill and re-used, contributing to a greener Australia.

Soft Landing also provide employment pathways and training to people in the community who experience barriers entering the open labour market.

Salvaging metal, foam and timber from mattresses diverts thousands of tonnes of waste from landfill annually. Every 10 tonne of materials is equivalent to:

  • Transport Taking four cars off the road permanently.
  • Light Providing enough electricity to annually power 14.5 households.
  • Drop Saving enough water to fill 3.5 average backyard pools.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Prices vary between location, whether you choose to drop off or have your mattress collected & how many pieces you have. A fixed collection fee will be calculated based on your address location. View pricing on the Soft Landing website below.

Soft Landing only recycle mattresses and ensemble bases, for all other household waste you may want to contact your local council they may have some recycling options for you...

WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS FROM RECYCLED MATTRESSES USED FOR?

Mattress materials have a wide variety of uses including timber bases for mulch, steel springs for recycling and foam for carpet underlay.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY OLD MATTRESS?

Some local councils offer mattress collections. If your local council doesn’t offer this service your local James Lane store may be able to arrange mattress removal for you. Please check with your local store to see if they can assist.
